“Anyone who has played Monopoly knows the game changes once a player owns several properties.” Drawing on the board game, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC MP Elysa Chen proposed higher taxes on owners of multiple investment properties in parliament on Tuesday (Oct 6). Noting that young couples looking for a home are not competing on equal terms with investors who already own multiple properties, she proposed progressively higher rental income tax rates from the second investment property onwards.
