Malaysia politics: UMNO calls for early general election as it eyes return to power

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is calling for an early general election, saying it is time for his party UMNO to reclaim a leading role in Malaysian politics. Eight years after UMNO lost a 61-year grip on federal power, Mr Zahid says the party has rebuilt its confidence and must now prepare to win again. UMNO has gained confidence from two consecutive state election victories recently in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. Afifah Ariffin reports from Kuala Lumpur.
