I will not benefit financially from salary increase: PM Wong

CNA1 hour ago0:56

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has clarified that he will not benefit financially from the increase in his salary, including from any tax benefits arising from his pledge to donate the increase for the next five years. Under the political salary framework, the prime minister’s salary is pegged at twice the MR4 benchmark. This means his reference salary will rise automatically when the MR4 reference salary is updated. “When I said donate the full increase, that includes any tax benefit arising from the donations,” he told parliament on Thursday (Sep 10) during a debate on changes to Singapore’s political salary framework. “So I will not benefit financially from this salary change.” #sgnews #singapore Subscribe to our channel here: https://cna.asia/youtubesub Visit our website: https://cna.asia Download our app: https://cna.asia/app Get our editors' picks of stories via chat apps: Telegram: https://cna.asia/telegram WhatsApp: https://cna.asia/whatsapp Follow us on these platforms: https://www.facebook.com/channelnewsasia https://www.instagram.com/channelnewsasia https://www.tiktok.com/@channelnewsasia
