‘I don’t want to cause any trouble’: Elderly man shoved by man for patting girl's head

An elderly wonton noodle seller who was shoved onto the floor by a man after patting a young girl on the head said he “did not want to cause any trouble” and is willing to let the matter go. Speaking to Mediacorp’s 8world on Sunday (Aug 16), the 73-year-old said he had simply found the girl “very adorable”, adding that older people like to pat young children’s heads. The incident at an East Coast Road coffee shop sparked an outcry after Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle posted CCTV footage of the incident on social media and appealed for information to identify the man involved in the confrontation. According to the posts, the man later sat down with the elderly man, apologised and offered him a drink. The elderly man said his back began hurting a few hours after the fall, but that taking painkillers had eased the pain enough for him to return to work. “I’m very hardworking,” he said, adding that he works all year and does not usually take a break.
