‘I am proud of all our mayors’: PM Wong

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has defended the role of Singapore’s mayors in parliament on Thursday (Sep 9), saying he would not want to give up the contributions that mayors and Community Development Councils (CDCs) make to the country. His comments came after Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh earlier asked for more clarity on the job scope of mayors. Mr Wong said he wanted mayors to continue strengthening communities and building a “more cohesive and caring Singapore”.
