Gastech 2026: AI boom is accelerating demand for gas turbines, says Siemens Energy executive

Artificial intelligence and data centre growth are accelerating demand for gas turbines and power infrastructure as electricity needs rise across Asia, according to Siemens Energy’s Asia Pacific President Thorbjorn Fors. Speaking to CNA’s Roland Lim at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Fors says global gas turbine demand has risen from around 50 to 60 gigawatts a few years ago to more than 120 gigawatts today, with AI accounting for a significant share of the increase.
