Asian Games 2026: Continent's biggest sports event opens in Nagoya after troubled build-up

The 20th Asian Games are officially underway in Japan's Nagoya. It was a colourful opening ceremony, but subdued turnout. Rows of seats at the 30,000-capacity stadium were empty, despite organisers saying all tickets were sold out. The continent's biggest multi-sport event brings together more than 17,000 athletes and officials, with more than 40 sports on the programme. Alif Amsyar and Michiyo Ishida report from Nagoya.
