ASEAN, Japan join Indonesia’s fight against forest fires

Japan and some ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, have joined Indonesia’s fight against raging forest fires that have blanketed parts of the region in haze. Japan is deploying around 600 Self-Defense Forces personnel and three CH-47 Chinook helicopters, while Malaysia will carry out cloud seeding near its border with Indonesia.
