6-year-old Chinese girl sets new world record in solving Rubik's Cube

Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi from Sichuan, China, broke the women's world record for the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube twice in three days at two World Cube Association (WCA) certified competitions. She first achieved an average time of 4.52 seconds and then 4.27 seconds, becoming the only female cuber in the world to have an average time under 4.5 seconds. Lian has now mastered more than 1,300 Rubik's Cube solving algorithms. Over the past year, she has spent about two to three hours a day on algorithm training. After she hit a plateau, her parents took her to Shanghai to train with top professional coaches.
