Midweek trading ideas: How will US CPI impact GBP/USD?

The second half of this week brings a run of potentially market-moving US data, starting with Wednesday's consumer price index (CPI). Core CPI is expected to rise 0.2% month-on-month (up from 0%) and 2.5% year-on-year (down from 2.6%), while headline CPI is expected to rise 0.1% month-on-month (up from -0.4%) and 3.4% year-on-year (down from 3.5%). Thursday's producer price index (PPI) may provide a read-through to the personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure, before Friday's July retail sales closes out the week.
