The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft, Adobe and other major IT firms from a green card program that allows skilled foreign workers to gain permanent residency in the United States. US Vice President JD Vance said that as a "great American company," Microsoft needs to hire "great American workers." Vance also alleged that American workers were being replaced by "foreign indentured servants." India, which has several large IT firms and other tech companies included in the suspension from this program, has accused Vance of using "terminology that carries painful historical and colonial legacy connotations," which was "deeply offensive."
