Heavy rain from Typhoon Saudel triggered a mudslide in Suichuan County, east China's Jiangxi Province, on September 5, prompting a major emergency response. Chinese People's Armed Police Force and firefighters worked together in rescue and relief operations, clearing mud and evacuating affected residents. In a local village, mud blockages trapped several elderly residents who were unable to evacuate, including one who was paralyzed and unable to move. Rescuers used available materials, including ladders and bamboo poles, to build makeshift stretchers.
