Rescued Chinese man shares haunting survival after being trapped in Nepal mudslide #worldnow

A Chinese national trapped in northern Nepal by the August 26 mudslide was rescued on September 5 – after days of crying out at vanishing rescue lights that never came. Pulled from a mud-clogged tunnel, the survivor said he kept yelling as loud as he could every time he saw lights in the distance. But they never reached him – until they finally did. "When their flashlight shone on me today, I couldn't believe it," he said. "I had stopped shouting and almost lost all hope." He is now in stable condition after hospital treatment, and has been visited by Chinese ambassador to Nepal. Embassy staff asked if he had heard rescue whistles over the past couple of days. "I shouted many times," he replied. "You are amazing for holding on," they told him.
