China's hyperspectral satellites to aid partners with farming, food security

Two hyperspectral satellites, developed by China's STAR.VISION with partners in Uzbekistan and Indonesia, were launched on Wednesday from Haiyang, Shandong Province, aboard a Smart Dragon-3 (SD-3) rocket. Named Samarkand-2028 and Lampung-1, the satellites combine hyperspectral imaging with onboard edge AI. They will monitor water quality, vegetation, crops, and mineral resources.
