Ties between the two countries extend well beyond diplomacy and economics to culture and cinema. The recent Chinese box-office hit Once Upon a Time in the Middle East brought Chinese and Egyptian filmmakers and performers together through cross-border production and collaboration, highlighting how cinema can serve as a bridge for deeper cultural exchange. This edition of Dialogue meets two of the Egyptian figures behind the film: Sherif Sobhy, an Egyptian actor who stars as Zayd, and Mohamed Osama Mohamed Ragab, Egyptian producer of the film and founder of Dragon Bridge Media.
