Donald Trump is on a rescue mission in several states where polls suggest Republicans are facing increasingly tight races in seats they once considered safe. One of the states that propelled Trump to victory in 2024 is Michigan. The tone of the tight senate race there between Democrat Abdul El Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers has been dominated by personal attacks, but on Tuesday they turned on each other's economic policies. Anger over the economy has also put the GOP in trouble in the south, including in areas that were once untouchable for Democrats.
