Malaysia has begun repatriating around 1,500 Myanmar nationals, believed to be Rohingya, as part of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's pledge to return 5,000 people. More than 125,000 Rohingya live in Malaysia, though rights groups say the true figure is far higher. The UN and rights organisations have condemned the move, citing Myanmar's 2017 military crackdown that displaced 700,000 Rohingya, mostly to Bangladesh.
