Israeli strike on Gaza City apartment kills Palestinian and wounds several

An Israeli attack on a residential building in Gaza City has killed at least one Palestinian and wounded several others, including children. The strike took place at about 4:30am, with eyewitnesses saying several drones or missiles hit an upper-floor apartment, causing a fire. Israeli authorities said the attack targeted a commander of Hamas’s Qassam Brigades in northern Gaza, but the claim could not be independently verified. Rescuers took hours to reach the damaged building and recover those killed and wounded, with some children suffering severe burns. A funeral was due to be held for those killed, while Hamas had not immediately confirmed the reported killing of its commander. The attack comes as Palestinians in Gaza City continue to live under the threat of repeated Israeli strikes, many of which occur without warning.
