‘I can’t give up hope’: Mother searches for daughter missing in Nepal floods

A South African family is refusing to give up hope of finding 33-year-old Terricia Govender, who went missing in Nepal during severe flooding seven days ago. Govender was among a group of pilgrims caught in the disaster, and her mother, Linda, says the family is desperately trying to remain hopeful that she will be found alive. She recalls speaking to her daughter for four hours by video call shortly before she disappeared, as Terricia showed her the clothes and gifts she was planning to bring home. The next morning, Linda received an email from the Isha Sacred Walk informing her of the disaster and immediately feared her daughter was in danger. Despite the uncertainty, she says Terricia is a fighter and insists she will return home. Linda says she wants to travel to Nepal herself and help search for her daughter, while holding on to hope that she is still alive.
