Houthi fighters have launched multiple missiles at Yemen's presidential palace in the southern port city of Aden, killing two bodyguards of the prime minister. Smoke was seen rising near the al-Maashiq Palace, which serves as a headquarters for Yemen's internationally recognised government. The prime minister and other government officials survived the attack, which officials have described as an assassination attempt. The strikes came shortly after the Saudi-led coalition held a briefing on Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and its military operations in Yemen. Meanwhile, heavy fighting continues between Houthi fighters and government forces in Taiz, where both sides are battling for control of strategic roads and mountainous positions overlooking the city. Houthi advances towards Taiz and the strategically important Bab al-Mandab Strait have raised fears of a wider conflict that could draw in additional regional powers.
