Displacement crisis pushes Yemen's Taiz to the breaking point

Years of war and displacement are pushing families and public services in Yemen's Taiz to the brink. Government figures issued this month put the number of displaced people in Taiz at more than 83,000, around 11,000 families, straining already limited resources. Damaged water networks have forced residents to rely on costly water tankers, while widespread power cuts have made solar energy essential. Housing remains a major challenge too, with officials describing as many as six to eight displaced families sharing a single overcrowded apartment amid high rents and a severe shortage of adequate shelter.
