Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to “uproot sick trees” in the anti-corruption fight, according to a speech transcript published Thursday in the party’s magazine Qiushi. The remarks were made in January at the fifth plenary session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the party’s top anti-corruption watchdog, ahead of a major party conclave later this month.
Separately, Xi Jinping participated in a voluntary tree-planting activity in Beijing on March 30, 2026, calling for the mobilization of the entire society to actively participate in afforestation. He noted that China has seen sustained increases in forest area and stock volume, making it the country with the largest and fastest increase in greening in the world.
