World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture linked to the Trump family and issuer of the USD1 stablecoin, has stated it does not own or control the Hong Kong-based AI platform WorldClaw. WorldClaw provides access to 90 AI models, with 43 developed by Chinese companies including Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai, and accepts World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin for payments. World Liberty executive Ryan Fang also serves as an adviser to WorldClaw.
World Liberty spokesperson David Wachsman maintained that WorldClaw is independent and that offering models from various countries is a common practice. However, he declined to disclose any financial ties between the two companies. The news emerges as some Chinese AI firms available on WorldClaw, such as Z.ai, have faced U.S. government scrutiny, with Z.ai being added to the Commerce Department's Entity List and Alibaba and Baidu designated as "Chinese Military Companies."
Additionally, U.S. AI developers like Anthropic have accused Chinese firms including DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax of engaging in model distillation attacks. World Liberty Financial has previously faced scrutiny regarding its business relationships, including borrowing against its own WLFI token on the Dolomite lending protocol. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have promoted WorldClaw.
