Ukraine's Third Army Corps, along with attached units, has recaptured an additional 101 square kilometers in the Lyman sector of Donetsk Oblast during the fourth phase of Operation Vivaldi, the corps announced on October 14, 2026. The liberated villages include Zelena Dolyna, Lypove, and Kolodiazi. According to the corps' Telegram announcement, Russia suffered approximately 3,000 soldier casualties during this stage.
Brig. Gen. Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the Third Army Corps, stated that Russian forces were unable to sever a key logistics artery in the Donbas. He also noted that the Ukrainian forces thwarted the offensive of Russia's 'Zapad' group, compelling them to redeploy units from the 1st Tank Army, which consequently reduced pressure on Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. Biletskyi added that Operation Vivaldi has, in total, led to the liberation of 16 settlements and the return of 277 square kilometers to Ukraine, concluding that "Four seasons of 'Vivaldi' are over, but the music continues."
Previously, on September 15, Biletskyi had confirmed that Ukrainian forces under the 3rd Army Corps were executing counterattacks north of Lyman. At that time, he stated that these operations had inflicted a significant blow to the combat capabilities of Russia's 20th and 25th Combined Arms Armies, with Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly pushing Russian supply hubs across the border. The strategic importance of the Donbas region, particularly the cities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, and Kostiantynivka, is highlighted as crucial heading into winter, with Russia anticipated to leverage its urban positions for a potential 2027 offensive.
