Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has confirmed that several asset management firms have initiated consultations regarding the launch of spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). However, the regulator has not yet received any formal applications for approval. The SEC indicated that the timeline for potential approvals, possibly before the end of 2026, depends on applicant readiness, regulatory review processes, and investor protection measures. The new framework, effective Friday, permits the establishment of locally listed spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs. Previously, ONE Asset Management and MFC Asset Management had already introduced funds linked to overseas Bitcoin ETFs.
