Star Ferry fares are set to increase by up to HK$1.80 on weekends and HK$1 on weekdays starting January 25, 2027, following approval from Hong Kong authorities. The operator had accumulated losses exceeding HK$100 million between 2018 and 2023 and is expected to face renewed losses from 2026 due to slow patronage recovery and rising costs. The government moderated the proposed increase to balance the operator's viability with passenger impact. Adult weekday fares will be capped at HK$6 and weekend fares at HK$8.30, while the monthly pass will remain unchanged at HK$190. The fare amendment will be presented to the Legislative Council for review.
