The Solana network has achieved a new record for daily token issuance, minting over 263,000 new tokens on Wednesday. This figure surpasses the number of tokens created during the peak of the memecoin cycle in late 2024. According to data from Solscan, the surge in new tokens is largely driven by memecoin platforms that simplify the creation process for users without extensive technical expertise.
Pump.fun, a prominent memecoin launchpad on Solana, was responsible for the majority of these new tokens, issuing 34,184 out of the 40,360 tokens created through launchpads. These platforms automate token creation and provide immediate liquidity and visibility for new digital assets.
Pump.fun also leads as the top Solana-native protocol by daily revenue, generating $1.8 million in the past 24 hours, according to DefiLlama. Despite a cooling memecoin market, Pump.fun contributed significantly to Solana's revenue in the first quarter of 2026, accounting for $124 million, or one-third of the network's total $342 million revenue.
