Russia struck a production complex belonging to Ukrainian confectionery company Roshen in Vinnytsia on October 12, 2026, causing a fire. The company stated that "Thanks to the timely activation of the warning system and the prompt evacuation, the lives of employees were saved."
Vinnytsia Oblast authorities reported that a Russian attack hit a civilian infrastructure facility in the city. More than 50 rescuers and 13 pieces of emergency equipment were deployed, and explosive ordnance specialists inspected the area. No injuries were reported.
Roshen later confirmed its Vinnytsia production complex had been hit and rejected claims circulating in Russian media that its facilities were being used to manufacture drones. "The corporation's enterprises produce confectionery products and do not manufacture drones or other products for military purposes. The production complex in Vinnytsia is a civilian facility," the company said. The extent of the damage was not immediately disclosed.
The company added, "Strikes on food industry facilities endanger the lives of civilian workers, destroy production capacity and jobs, and disrupt the supply of goods." This strike is not the first to damage Roshen facilities during the ongoing conflict; a logistics center in Kyiv Oblast was destroyed on August 27, and a factory in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district was struck on January 24.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified attacks on civilian infrastructure and Ukraine's energy sector. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on October 11 that Russian forces had carried out over 200 strikes on electricity generation and transmission facilities, as well as 17 strikes on gas and oil facilities in the preceding week, resulting in more than 150 deaths and over 700 injuries.
