Prime Video announced on Thursday its intention to invest more than $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030. This significant investment aims to bolster its original programming and sports offerings across key markets including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.
The company plans to more than double the number of local original productions in these five countries starting from 2026, with a slate of over 25 new titles scheduled for 2027. Among the planned content are the second seasons of 'La Oficina' and 'Tremembé', the second season of 'Menem', and a new series titled 'Marília', alongside other scripted series, films, and reality shows.
In sports, Prime Video will continue its global NBA deal by offering more than 200 games per season in Brazil and Mexico. The service has also expanded its NBA coverage to Argentina, Colombia, and Chile for the first time. Furthermore, Prime Video will become the exclusive broadcaster for the Mexico national team's 38 home matches over the next four years, beginning in September.
Additionally, Prime Video is enhancing its app functionality by allowing customers in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Peru to subscribe to third-party streaming services directly through the app later this year. The platform will also launch rental and purchase options for premium entertainment in these five countries, as well as in Argentina.
