Plus500 is set to acquire US broker-dealer Hedge Capital Markets as part of its strategy to launch a comprehensive 'super-app' in the United States by the first quarter of 2027. This planned application will integrate various financial products, including futures, prediction markets, stocks, options, and ETFs, onto a single platform powered by Plus500's proprietary technology. The move aims to address the current fragmentation experienced by US retail investors who often use multiple providers and accounts to trade across different asset classes.
The acquisition of Hedge Capital Markets, which is registered with the SEC and is a member of FINRA, is crucial for establishing the SEC-regulated foundation for the super-app. Plus500's CEO, David Zruia, highlighted that the deal, along with a new New York hub and the integration of the Hedge team, will accelerate growth and provide direct access to the US securities market. The company's existing US operations, regulated by the CFTC, already offer futures and prediction markets.
Plus500's non-over-the-counter (OTC) business, which includes futures and prediction markets, generated approximately $70 million in revenue in the first half of 2026, representing about 15% of the group's total revenue. The company targets an annualized revenue of $140 million for 2026 from this segment, with an expected profit margin of 20% and above, significantly higher than the market practice of 10%. The acquisition will be funded from Plus500's cash reserves, which exceeded $860 million as of June 30, 2026. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including FINRA approval.
