A Panama-flagged cargo ship, MV Ocean Winner, carrying 24 crew members and iron ore, sank off the coast of Odisha, India, on Saturday. Communication with the vessel was lost before it sank, prompting a major search and rescue operation by the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy.
The ship had departed from Paradip Port on August 20 and was en route to Singapore. The crew consisted of 20 Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar, and one Bangladeshi.
As of Saturday, two survivors have been rescued from life rafts. The cause of the sinking remains unknown. Other vessels in the vicinity have been alerted to assist in the search for the remaining 22 crew members.
