A nurse has been struck off the nursing register after stealing £750,000 from a vulnerable 99-year-old resident at Bryn Yr Haul Care Home in Mold, Flintshire. Rebecca Louise Burwood, who was the deputy manager, exploited the woman between 2017 and 2023. Burwood became the resident's lasting power of attorney and obtained ownership of her £400,000 house. She also withdrew over £370,000 from the resident's bank account. The stolen funds were used for cosmetic surgery, home improvements, utility bills, council tax, a car, and a campervan. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) found Burwood's actions to be serious misconduct and impaired her fitness to practise.
