Mozambique is in discussions with South African energy firm Sasol and pipeline company ROMPCO regarding a potential $250 million offshore gas project. The initiative aims to establish floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) in Inhassoro and the port of Beira by 2030 or 2031. This infrastructure is intended to facilitate the transport of LNG from the Rovuma Basin projects and ensure gas supply for domestic industrialization, potentially increasing gas exports to South Africa as existing onshore fields are depleted. Mozambique's national oil and gas company, ENH, has been granted a 30-year concession for the construction and operation of this natural gas infrastructure.
