A 32-year-old man has been charged with seven offenses following an incident in Sydney's inner west last Friday that led to a lockdown. Police were called to a carpark in Dulwich Hill around 10:20 a.m. on Friday following reports of a stolen vehicle. Officers were informed that a man was allegedly armed with a firearm inside the stolen car before he allegedly set it on fire. A couple reportedly spotted their stolen van, followed it, and confronted the driver in a carpark. The man is accused of then setting the vehicle alight and waving a sawn-off shotgun at them before fleeing. The incident triggered a large police search, with businesses evacuated and Dulwich Hill Public School placed into lockdown. On Sunday night, the man was arrested in Burwood after allegedly attempting to evade police. He was treated for a minor injury sustained during the arrest and taken to hospital under police guard. He faces charges including possessing a shortened firearm without authority, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, and destroying or damaging property. He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 7 on Monday.
