Lebanon's Health Ministry has reported that Israeli attacks have resulted in at least 4,304 deaths and 12,203 injuries since March 2. These figures highlight the ongoing conflict and its severe impact on the civilian population.
Despite a declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah on April 17, and a renewed ceasefire taking effect on Friday, Israeli air raids and drone attacks have persisted in southern Lebanon. Human Rights Watch noted that since the escalation of hostilities on March 2, Israeli attacks had killed at least 3,711 people, including 132 health workers and 247 children. Since April 17, at least 1,417 people have been killed, including 32 health workers and 70 children, averaging more than one child killed daily.
Israeli forces have also ordered the evacuation of residents from Tyre and surrounding towns, designating nearly 14 percent of Lebanon's territory south of the Zahrani river as a "combat zone." These actions may amount to war crimes of forced displacement, with around one million people currently displaced within Lebanon.
Recent incidents include Israeli strikes on Saturday that killed 16 people and wounded 12 in Nabatieh district. A Lebanese soldier was killed in an attack on Kfar Reman. In Barish, an Israeli strike on a family home killed four members. Another raid in Sohmor killed four people. An attack in Qanarit resulted in at least seven deaths and 13 injuries. On Friday, just after the renewed ceasefire, Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health reported 83 deaths and 141 wounded from Israeli attacks.
Al Jazeera reported over 100 Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon since midnight Saturday, with civilians among the casualties. The ongoing violence complicates planned talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending their conflict and cementing a truce in Lebanon, as Iran views a ceasefire in Lebanon as essential to the diplomatic process.
Separately, at least 73,098 people have been killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023, according to the health ministry. Attacks since a nominal ceasefire began in October last year have killed at least 1,072 and wounded 3,463 in Gaza.
