Israeli forces continued their attacks across southern Lebanon late on Thursday, striking multiple areas including Talloussah, Jinjil, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, according to state media. Illumination flares were also reportedly fired over the outskirts of Yater and Beit Lif.
These strikes occur as the next round of US-mediated talks between Israel and Lebanon has been postponed. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned Israel's actions as a "dangerous escalation" that "extends to state institutions or health centers," urging the U.S. to intervene.
While two ceasefire agreements promoted by the U.S. in recent months have de-escalated the conflict, fighting persists in the south. Israel still occupies approximately 600 square kilometers (6% of Lebanese territory), and its strikes prevent civilians in devastated regions from returning to normal life. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that nearly 330,000 people remain forcibly displaced.
On Sunday, Israel issued its first evacuation order since June, stating it was in response to two Hezbollah drones that struck its forces without causing casualties. The Israeli military also destroyed a residential building in Arab Salim and a hospital near Nabatieh, claiming Lebanese militiamen were hiding there. The army has also been expanding its ground operations beyond the "security zone."
