Five Guangdong-registered yachts are set to sail into Hong Kong waters on Friday with the launch of the Southbound Yacht Travel Scheme, according to the city's marine chief. The launch ceremony will mark the maiden voyages of the scheme, which is a key initiative to develop Hong Kong's yacht economy as outlined in the city's first five-year plan and its latest policy address. The Marine Department and the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration signed work arrangements on September 28, 2026, to facilitate the entry and exit of yachts between Hong Kong and Guangdong. This follows the northbound travel scheme for Hong Kong yachts launched in June this year, aiming to add impetus to cross-boundary leisure consumption and promote two-way exchanges.
