Investor morale in the euro zone improved significantly in September, reaching its highest point in over four years. The Sentix index climbed to 5.1 points, up from 0.9 points in August and exceeding the 2.0-point forecast from Reuters-polled analysts. This marks the fifth consecutive monthly increase for the index and its highest reading since February 2022.
The survey attributes the positive sentiment to substantial improvements in both investors' assessment of current economic conditions and their future expectations. The subindex for current conditions rose to -3.3 points from -8.0 points, while the expectations gauge increased to 13.8 points. Sentix specifically noted that the German economy, despite previous lagging performance, is now actively contributing to this positive trend.
The Sentix headline index for Germany also saw a notable increase, rising to -2.8 points from -11.9 points, its fourth consecutive gain and highest level since July 2025. The survey, conducted between August 3 and August 5, included responses from 1,052 investors, of which 209 were institutional investors.
