At least five Palestinians, including two children, were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza over the past 24 hours, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Two additional individuals died from injuries sustained in previous attacks. The ministry reported that seven fatalities were brought to hospitals across Gaza during this period, with several victims remaining under rubble due to difficulties in reaching them.
A 10-year-old girl, Amal Abu Khater, was shot dead inside her family's tent in Khan Younis, according to relatives. Separately, a four-year-old boy, Hassan al-Qatrawi, was killed in an air strike in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. His mother and sister were rescued alive from the rubble.
The Israeli military stated it was not aware of the incident in Khan Younis but confirmed it had issued an evacuation order in Bureij before carrying out a strike on what it described as a Hamas weapons storage facility. The military alleged such facilities were being established inside mosques and alongside humanitarian infrastructure.
Three UN warehouses in Deir al-Balah were damaged in an air strike, and a water desalination plant in Gaza City was also bombed. The Israeli military claimed it targeted a Hamas weapons storage facility near the plant. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem condemned the attacks as an attempt to deprive the population of survival means.
Among those killed were two brothers, Mohammed and Ibrahim Abu Asad, whose tent in Deir al-Balah was bombed overnight. The Israeli military identified Mohammed as a Hamas operative involved in the October 7, 2023 attack on southern Israel.
Since the start of the conflict in October 2023, the Palestinian Health Ministry reports over 73,438 Palestinians have been killed and 174,447 injured. The ongoing campaign has also caused widespread destruction, damaging about 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, with UN estimates for reconstruction costs at around $70 billion.
