Nobu Hospitality is set to expand its presence in Portugal with the development of a new luxury hotel, restaurant, and residential complex in the eastern Algarve region. The project, located at the Monte Rei resort, is scheduled to open its doors to guests in 2029.
This will be Nobu's second venture in Portugal, following a hotel planned for Lisbon. The Algarve development will be situated within over 1,000 acres of countryside, centered around a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Nobu Hotel will comprise 100 rooms and suites, complemented by a signature Nobu restaurant. Additionally, the resort will offer 21,000 square meters dedicated to Nobu villas and branded residences.
Construction for the Monte Rei project is expected to begin in 2027, with Rockwell Group and DSA Architects handling the design. Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, highlighted Monte Rei's natural beauty and reputation for luxury living as key attractions for the new destination. The company aims to create a distinctive Nobu experience deeply connected to the Eastern Algarve.
