A prominent South Florida real estate agent, Melanie Hyer, 46, was found dead alongside her ex-husband, Ryan Whiten, 42, and their two daughters, Savannah, 11, and Sienna, 8, in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide. Doral Police Department officers responded to the Doral Isles neighborhood on Tuesday evening for a welfare check, where they discovered the four individuals, all pronounced dead at the scene. The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation. Hyer was a well-known realtor, and Whiten was a real estate project manager. Reports indicate the former couple co-parented their children and had been involved in disputes. The investigation revealed that Mr. Whiten committed these heinous acts and then took his own life. Doral Mayor Christi Fraga expressed deep personal sorrow over the tragedy, and the Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School confirmed the loss of two beloved students.
