Ukraine targets Russian logistics highway with new drone

Ukraine is intensifying its efforts to disrupt Russian military logistics through innovative drone warfare and intelligence integration. The 412th Nemesis Brigade is utilizing a new mid-range, fixed-wing drone named the Morrigan to strike the R-280 'Novorossiya' logistics highway, located between 50 and 75 miles behind the front lines. These strikes specifically target Russian supply and fuel convoys, aiming to degrade their operational capabilities.

Complementing these offensive actions, Ukraine is enhancing its drone strike effectiveness by integrating commercial satellite imagery. This intelligence is being delivered directly to Ukrainian soldiers' mobile phones, significantly accelerating the "kill chain" and presenting new tactical challenges for the Russian military. On the Russian side, drone production is surging, with daily output of FPV drones reportedly exceeding 15,000 units, a 30-fold increase over three years, indicating a growing advantage in drone warfare capabilities. Russia is also resorting to unconventional methods to protect its supply lines, employing World War I-era dazzle camouflage, characterized by stark black-and-white zigzag patterns, on trucks and tires to confuse Ukrainian drones.

However, Russia's own drone operations are reportedly plagued by significant issues. UK intelligence suggests at least 330 friendly-fire incidents have occurred over three years, with Russian forces dropping glide bombs on their own territories. These incidents are attributed to poor procedures, crew fatigue, and inadequate training, despite a daily deployment of over 100 glide bombs in Ukraine. Adding to these concerns, Russian drone technology, including anti-aircraft weapons, is reportedly available for purchase on platforms like eBay, raising alarms about its proliferation and potential misuse as a terror risk.
