Israeli parliament advances bill for inquiry into Oct 7 failures

Israel's parliament, the Knesset, has approved a bill in its first reading that would establish a commission of inquiry to investigate the security failures that preceded the October 7 Hamas attack. The bill received 59 votes in favor during the preliminary vote. However, opposition lawmakers chose to boycott the proceedings, arguing that an independent state commission would be more appropriate for such an inquiry.

In a separate development, the Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a criminal complaint in the Netherlands against two Israeli Knesset members, Ram Ben Barak and Moshe Solomon. This complaint accuses them of incitement to genocide. The legal action was submitted in anticipation of their scheduled participation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session.
