Israeli forces shell southern Lebanese town amid ongoing incursions

Israeli forces have conducted heavy artillery attacks on the southern Lebanese town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, accompanied by reports of drone strikes and ground incursions into border towns. These actions are occurring despite an existing ceasefire agreement and ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the Israeli occupation.

In a separate incident within southern Lebanon's Tyre district, a large explosion has been reported. The Israeli military stated that this explosion was the result of their demolition of a 200-meter-long Hezbollah tunnel. This event also transpires despite a US-mediated ceasefire framework that is intended to de-escalate tensions.

Concurrently, in the southern Lebanese village of Zawtar al-Gharbieh, which has been designated as a 'pilot zone' under a US-brokered deal for Israeli withdrawal, the return of displaced families is minimal. Approximately 15 families have returned to the village. Residents cite the destruction of many homes and the generally unlivable conditions as primary reasons for the slow return. Concerns about safety persist, even with the presence of the Lebanese army in the area.
