Severe weather events across China have resulted in at least 15 fatalities, with hundreds injured and thousands evacuated. In Hubei province, a rare and powerful tornado, attributed to the remnants of Typhoon Maysak, struck the region. This tornado killed at least 11 people, left one person missing, and injured over 330. The event caused significant structural damage and occurred after days of extreme weather warnings.
Separately, in Gansu province, a landslide in Nanhe township, Longnan city, trapped 33 individuals. Rescue efforts have so far freed 17 people, but 16 remain buried. The cause of this landslide is currently undetermined. Chinese leader Xi Jinping has directed that "all out" rescue efforts be undertaken in response to the widespread damage and loss of life. The extreme weather also included thunderstorms and landslides in other areas, contributing to the overall casualty count.
