A Turkish-flagged fishing boat, the DURU 67, sank in the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea after being attacked, resulting in one fatality and four injuries among the crew. Türkiye's Coast Guard Command reported the incident occurred near Sevastopol. A nearby fishing vessel, BURAK KAYA, rescued five injured crew members, one of whom later died during the journey to Turkey. A Turkish Coast Guard rescue vessel met BURAK KAYA approximately 115 nautical miles north of Inebolu to transfer the sailors, who sustained shrapnel wounds, to a hospital in Kastamonu. While Turkish authorities have not officially identified the perpetrator, Ukrainian forces have been actively targeting vessels, ports, and infrastructure in and around Crimea since the escalation of the conflict with Russia. Ukraine has also targeted vessels it claims are involved in Russia's 'shadow fleet' used to bypass sanctions. This incident follows recent drone attacks on the peninsula and other maritime incidents in the Black Sea involving Turkish-flagged vessels.
