Taiwan is enhancing its defense capabilities to deter potential aggression from China, which views the island as a breakaway province. The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) has unveiled armed robot dogs, built on platforms from U.S. firm Ghost Robotics, designed for coastal patrols, reconnaissance, and high-risk missions. These quadruped robots, capable of navigating difficult terrain and equipped with surveillance and potential firepower, are seen as a response to China's 'grey-zone' tactics. The Taiwanese military has indicated an urgent need for such technology, although a formal order has not yet been placed. This development occurs amid ongoing tensions and China's repeated warnings about the potential use of force to achieve reunification.
