A Russian attack on unspecified transport infrastructure in southern Odesa Oblast on August 3, 2026, resulted in 13 people being wounded, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper. Kiper stated that a fire erupted at one of the facilities and that emergency services were working to contain it. Of the injured, four required hospitalization, with one in critical condition.
The attack occurs amid a reported escalation of Russian assaults on Ukrainian port infrastructure. According to Ukraine's Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure, and Transport, Russia has launched five attacks on seaport facilities, three on civilian vessels within ports, and two on vessels in the Ukrainian Sea Corridor during the first three days of August. The Ukrainian Sea Corridor is a temporary Black Sea route established after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
The ministry noted that Russia continues its targeted strikes on Ukraine's transport infrastructure, seaports, and civilian fleet. In addition to the Odesa Oblast strikes, Russia also attacked civilian vessels in the ports of Greater Odesa and the Danube Region, which are critical maritime and river logistics hubs for Ukraine. In July, the ministry reported 67 attacks on seaport facilities, 35 on civilian vessels in ports, and 22 on vessels in the Ukrainian Sea Corridor.
