Russia launched an overnight aerial attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region on Aug. 8, resulting in three fatalities, including a child, and three injuries, also including a child, in the Brovary district. The strike damaged a residential building, vehicles, and outbuildings, and ignited a fire. Kyiv City Administration Head Tymur Tkachenko stated that Russia continues to terrorize the civilian population. This attack follows a pattern of intensified bombardments exploiting Ukraine's air defense shortages, which leave the capital vulnerable to Russian ballistic missiles. Ukraine's Air Force reported intercepting only 29 out of 195 ballistic missiles launched in July. A prior large-scale Russian assault on Aug. 5 killed 17 people and injured nearly 30 others in the Kyiv area, with none of the launched ballistic and hypersonic missiles intercepted.
