Historically, Muscat has leveraged its unique position to facilitate dialogue between state and non-state actors, acting as a trusted intermediary. This approach, often described as the "Switzerland of the Middle East," stems from a foreign policy pillar of impartial geopolitical balance. Oman hosted peace talks between US diplomats and Houthi representatives in 2015, underscoring its belief that a military solution is not viable and that compromises are necessary for peace.
